Babylonian Talmud, Mishnc tractate Shabbat 17a

And then the lion ate it up.

The moral of the story: A lion is not a gentleman.

The Bible

If you see an animal lying around in a field, do not just think about it. You must go and talk to it. You must not just think, “Poor little thing.” You must do something to help it. You must do something for the benefit of all creation. And if you are a good person, and you go out to the field, you will find a lot of the other animals that God created wting to be helped by you. And they will bless you for it.

We need to remember that the chastening of God is not cruel. God is not a cruel God. The purpose of the chastening is to make us better, to make us stronger, to make us wiser.

The Bible

God loves us so much that he wants to help us. He wants to show us the way. We have to be willing to work for our help, because we have to work our way through life. God will help us if we are willing to work for it.

1 Timothy 6:12

If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not obey them when they discipline him, though they punish him with many blows, he shall not immediately put him to death.
